Avoid XFX!

Warrenty Nightmare
URBY buys 9800GX2 at the time of realease off Ebay New from a seller who bought in bulk(20) from EBUYER for the purpose of reselling

reigstered my newcard With XFX as soon as i got it.

Card Dies Death Screens Artifacts OS becomes Un-bootable
Works fine with a Different Card

Contacted Xfx - says i got no warrenty as its bought from ebay(untrue) despite the fact it was Totally new and was bought in Bulk for reselling(i know the seller).

They also stated how much their support system sucked in the EU informing me that the LIFE time warrenty written on the box doesnt apply outside the US and that they only talk to resellers(put it in a different box then).

Ebuyer wouldnt talk to me because i didnt buy it in bulk from them directly.

Seller talks to XFX they sho him off to Ebuyer
Who then said to talk to XFX YAY!

and thats were im at a card retail price £350 bought new dying under 2 years lifetime warrenty on the box, under 2 years should be covered by Eu laws too.

The xfx support system sucks, as a Buyer of thier product they failed to help whatsover.

all i can say is avoid XFX, Loads of other decent brands out there.
im ditching XFX and nvidia altogether.

insult to injury
they told me of Upgrades availible
"The current upgrades we are able to offer are: 8800GTX 768Mb (-SHF) - £40(GBP) and Old card GTS 250 1Gb (-ZDF) - £75(GBP) and Old card GTX 260 898Mb (-ADF) - £90(GBP) and Old card ATI 4850 1Gb (HD-485X-ZDFC) - £65(GBP) and Old card ATI 4870 1Gb DDR5 XXX (HD-487A-ZDDC) - £105(GBP) and Old card Hope all goes well, however if any queries or problems please keep us posted. Kind regards Paul"

my card > all cards mentioned
the term upgrade is a joke ?

#4Sunday 31 January @ 00:14 by Ireland URBY

Cheating bastards, not buying any of their crap ever

#5Sunday 31 January @ 01:23 by Finland aalio

Well, this makes buying future graphics cars easier, doesn't it?

They're absolute fuckers, obviously, but I guess it is to be expected, saving money is after all their goal, though I do enjoy that they have, by choosing to attempt that tactic on an unknown person, just lost access to potentially 10 times the worth of the card they refuse to replace. Stupid, stupid people.

CUNTS

#7Sunday 31 January @ 01:48 by UK Higgum

pf, what do you expect, they are only eager to get your money buying their stuff and then zero support, and really wtf do these cards get dizzy when they get transfered across the atlantic and they lose their warrenty?

so from now on we should know not to buy from such american companies, as we "europeans" don't have the same rights with our across-atlantic buddies

#8Sunday 31 January @ 04:06 by Greece Indianos

lol shit, just a few weeks ago my xfx geforce 9800 broke!

#9Sunday 31 January @ 09:03 by England DaveTheSexBeast

Well I had my Gigabyte mobo die on me and they tell me I cant use USA warranty system as it was bought in the EU . . . 150€ down the toilet... will probably buy an ASUS now, not that they are any better, just need to avoid gigabyte for a while.

#10Sunday 31 January @ 10:45 by Austria Tricks_

FFS, we buy their overpriced crap and this is what we get. Unbelievable, no respect at all for the consumer. The "upgrades" are a fucking joke, makes you want to hit them with a bat straight in the face.

#11Sunday 31 January @ 11:58 by Portugal OverturePT

Tell 'em to fuck off.

#12Sunday 31 January @ 19:34 by Greece NedMoN

Sad days indeed, but surely its illegal for Ebuyer to sell on in the first place, advertising a warranty when in fact it only applies to the US, do Ebuyer even operate in the US? Am i missing something?

#13Sunday 31 January @ 19:39 by Ireland DarthenRahl

Or even illegal for XFX to sell it to Ebuyer knowing once they do, they will have escaped any obligations to fulfill the warranties outside the US

#14Sunday 31 January @ 19:43 by Ireland DarthenRahl

XFX brand severely damaged. Looks like they need to resolve this issue to avoid a massive boycott.

#15Sunday 31 January @ 19:45 by England AJ

That is crappy. I've found BFG to have great customer service, had 2 RMA's with them and they went very smooth.

#16Sunday 31 January @ 19:50 by Ireland Deicida

Its quite bad when a company wont honour its warranties.

Stuff em, buy from a decent company in future, XFX need customers more than you need XFX.

#17Sunday 31 January @ 20:14 by UK Mr-Mofo

XFX always disappointed me compare to other companies. Not the first time I heard about there bad support... Plus their coolers are shit and noisy.

#18Sunday 31 January @ 20:37 by Denmark Remi

lol, id say the managers wont be too pleased at the employee's tainting their name! not givin a feck. ill remember the name anyways!

#19Sunday 31 January @ 21:00 by Ireland RunDmcal

Am about to upgrade myself. Definately not going to buy XFX anything now, thanks for the heads up

#20Sunday 31 January @ 21:45 by UK Monkeybreadman

Hope my 260 doesn't fail now, That is pretty bad

#21Sunday 31 January @ 21:52 by Wales Welsh:]boy

just realised that my GFX card that is dying is a XFX 8800GTX, what do they put on the shelf life? 1-2-3 years max? NEVER BUY XFX LADS AND TELL YOUR BROTHERS YOUR SISTERS AND YOU MOMMA'S TOO, Also your mates around the world!!!!!! Goods are bought and Guarntees should be honoured ffs

#22Sunday 31 January @ 23:15 by UK funksteruk2

Well I'v gone for sapphire 5770 vapour instead of XFX now and very glad i have. Runs very cool and OC's well. Recomend the Sapphire Thanks for the 'heads up'.

An interesting thought but with all of our teams playing different games / clans in diferent competitions speading the word the potential audience of this thread must huge. Baring in mind we play people from the USA as well, it's probably bigger than their American market.

#24Monday 01 February @ 17:58 by England richard8000

If we are to be taken to be some sort of serious clan then it must be made a clan rule we boycott this kind of crap.
This is bull shit on a grand scale... how can these fools justify not being responsible for their faulty hardware?
I heard BFG were v.good a while back, a little research came up with XVGA being the best of the Nvidia chip based GFX so that's the way i went, I over paid for it by quite a bit but I still can't see the need to upgrade my xvga 8800gtx with ac3 and factory overclock, or even justify going SLI now that the card itself has became alot cheaper to buy.

Boycotts XFX by all means but please don't let one vendor tarnish such a reputable brand such as Nvidia.
If buying in bulk is the way to make real savings then perhaps this opportunity should be a clan based activity with fail safe measures in place... i.e not buying what seems to be a problem laden area of the market.

On closing, I am sorry to hear about your bad news Urbs, its bullshit when the corporations come down on you like that, live and learn, lucky by your heads up it can be from fewer mistakes.

#25Monday 01 February @ 20:04 by UK Lunch
