Post your suggestions. Here is my recommendations (so far)

Torrents:
http://www.deluge-torrent.org/
No bloat/Mal-ware like uTorrent. Runs just as good if not better, uses less resources.

VOIP:
http://mumble.sourceforge.net/

Maintenance / Temperatures in your PC:

Speedfan gives a quick overlook of all detectable temperatures

Media Players:

If you still have a massive music collection on your PC, then there is no better than this (my opinion). Very custimazable and uses almost no resources.

Still my preferred play everything media player. Might be other good programs out there.

  • Blender
If you want to make 3d-models (like tf2 hats)
  • Media Player Classic HC
Another good media player. You can set it to use MadVR renderer which is high quality GPU accelerated video decoder. If you want to make it even better you can use AVISynth for frame doubling(can be pain in the ass to set up).

I never managed to customize Foobar. It takes so much effort. :/

Great Picture Hacking if you are only doing simple quick edits:

Better than Photoshop if you can make the learning curve

For the Audiophiles out there who still like to get their hands on a PHYSICAL Disc (oh the infamy in this digital age)

and the geeks will want to crucify me for doing this but my source for a lot of good free and shareware:

Really good program that’s free if you like something a bit different than the normal desktop:

And for themes just go to DeviantArt:

Just finished installing the battlefield theme which took a couple of days due to customizing some of the shortcuts that came with it:

Also works on windows 8/8.1

Spybot Search and Destroy one of the granddaddies of Malware protection and still a good bargain for what it does in the free version

http://www.safer-networking.org/

this one is kind of a no-brainer for me:
your newest bestest search engine if you havent already heard of it

why them? here:

takes a bit of getting used to sure but I like the idea behind it.

Super advanced video editor. If you have used stuff like Avid, you might like this one. I have messed around with it a bit and it has so many options and settings, I’m too stupid to use it though. But worth it if you are/want to be a pro video/movie editor.

Libre office, forget open office, bug free and compatible with all latest versions of MS office, even free for business users!

Makemkv, perfect ripper for bluray, totally lossless quality but obviously massive output file. Simply reprocess your file with something like handbrake or medicoder afterwards to get the bitrate/wrapper you want. Grab your free licence key from their sticky in their forum.

SlowMoVideo

slowmoVideo is an OpenSource program that creates slow-motion videos from your footage.

But it does not simply make your videos play at 0.01× speed. You can smoothly slow down and speed up your footage, optionally with motion blur.

How does slow motion work? slowmoVideo tries to find out where pixels move in the video (this information is called Optical Flow), and then uses this information to calculate the additional frames between the ones recorded by your camera.

Showcase
Eats LOTS of disk space rapidly. Bit hairy to use at first, but gives good/funny results. Works better on linux (uses gpu vs cpu only on windows).

That SlowMo looks super interesting. I’ve started making some timelapse photage, that would fit this perfectly.

Btw. I had difficulties finding the right setup for windows for it, but found it here: http://slowmovideo.granjow.net/download.php
